Journeyman Electrician - Campus Facilities & Utilities
$34–$39/hour (about $71,000–$91,000/year at 40-45 hours/week)

We're looking for a hands-on electrician to be our on-site expert for power, water distribution, wastewater, and backup systems, and a key member of our facilities team for our 643-acre waterfront campus in Cecil County, Maryland.
What You'll Do
Most electricians spend their careers on someone else's job site. Here, you own it: you diagnose the problem, design the fix, and see it through. Electrical is your specialty, but it isn't the whole job.
Maintain and repair campus electrical systems: 3-phase power, generators, transfer switches, and overhead and buried distribution. You'll troubleshoot the secondary side, understand the full system, and coordinate with a qualified contractor on primary work.
Keep wells, water systems, wastewater, and lift stations running.
Troubleshoot HVAC systems, walk-in coolers and freezers, ice machines, commercial kitchen equipment, and pool systems.
Run preventive maintenance, such as generator tests, well checks, and equipment inspections, track it in our work order app, and cross-train other staff so critical knowledge doesn't disappear.
Operate the tractor, backhoe, skid steer, and telehandler for trenching, repairs, and site work.
Pitch in with the facilities team on plumbing, carpentry, equipment, storm cleanup, and turning over buildings between groups.
Review plans for new buildings, from utility routing to equipment selection, to catch problems on paper before they become problems in the field.
When you get the lift station running again, a cabin of campers has working bathrooms that night. When you keep the power on through a summer storm, 400 kids and 200 staff still get dinner and a bunk.
Required
Journeyman electrician license or documented equivalent experience. Military counts: Navy EM or Seabee CE, Coast Guard EM, Army 12R/12P/91D, USMC 1141/1142, Air Force 3E0X1/3E0X2.
Experience troubleshooting secondary 3-phase power, generators, and site distribution.
Willingness to do regular non-electrical facilities work.
Valid driver's license, ability to pass a background check, and you live within 30 minutes of camp (or are willing to relocate).
Stronger candidates have experience with as many of the following as possible:
Plumbing (a journeyman plumbing license is a real plus)
Septic/wastewater treatment systems, including MDE water/wastewater operator certification
HVAC (EPA 608 certification), commercial kitchen equipment, and pool operations (CPO)
Heavy equipment operation (tractor, backhoe)
Emergency response training (EMT, wildland fire, etc.)
General handyman/carpentry versatility
Vehicle, small engine, and outboard motor repair

Schedule & Benefits
About 40-45 hours a week, with some evenings and weekends. On-call for serious emergencies and weather events. Paid straight time for every hour worked, including emergency and weather call-ins. Sandy Hill Camp and Retreat Center and Eagle Point Retreat together serve 2,400+ residential campers each summer and host roughly 100 retreats throughout the spring and fall for churches, schools, and other community groups. Family-owned and operated for 32 years. Our mission is to “Honor God and make a positive impact in the world through camp.”
We're also in an exciting upgrade phase with multiple new lodges and other facility expansions planned in the coming years. This role is essential to keeping the campus safe, operational, and ready, and will have a real voice in our new construction. You'll be the person who keeps power on, water flowing, kitchens running, and pool safe - hopefully solving problems before guests even know there was one and even better if you can prevent them in the first place!
