With the addition of our new property, Eagle Point, the strong growth of spring and fall retreats and weddings, and our passion to continuously improve the Sandy Hill summer camp experience, we are looking to grow our year-round staff team.

Due to the diverse and seasonal nature of our programs, we are looking for people who are enthusiastic about contributing in multiple ways throughout the course of a year. For some of the tasks below that do not represent full-time positions, we are looking for staff who bring skills and experience in more than one of the following…


Recreation Worker

September – May:

Support retreat staff needs and scheduling

Assist with general administrative duties in the office and with off-season rental groups (year round) - host some retreats, support retreat programs, camp tours, etc.

Provide direct operational support for retreat events including program facilitation, facility setup, food service, and housekeeping as neededRecruit summer staff – conduct on-site and online recruiting at college campuses, communicate effectively with potential applicants, review submitted applications, interview selected candidates, check references, and recommend staff for hire to the Camp Director

Organize staff paperwork and preparation - coordinate staff contracts, visas, travel arrangements, fingerprints, social security numbers, and background checks

June – August:

Manage, mentor, and support the campers and seasonal staff during summer camp

Supervise seasonal staff in cabin counselor, activity specialist or support area roles

Coordinate personnel assignments, staff training, work/shift schedules, etc.

Provide formal staff evaluations

Supervise youth programs and activities

Other Requirements:

Ability to work effectively with diverse, international staff teams

Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, plus extended hours during summer season

Willingness to reside on-site during summer camp season (employer-provided housing and meals)

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Recreation/Business/Hospitality Management, Education, or a related field; and 9+ months of experience teaching and/or working with children and/or young adults.

Event Administration

Year-Round
Can be a mix of remote & on-site

Market, schedule, plan and coordinate the details of events at Sandy Hill and Eagle Point. On-site required for tours and check-in of arriving groups. Admin work can often be remote (phone calls, emails, paperwork).

Event Hosting

Spring: March thru mid-June
Fall: Mid-August thru November

On-site

On-site point of contact for spring and fall retreats and weddings. Make announcements, run meals in the Dining Hall, coordinate vendors and meet guests’ needs. Pre-scheduled weekends in the spring/fall. Required to sleep on site during overnight events. Looking for 3-5 people to play this role to spread the load between hosts. Spanish fluency highly desirable for some events.

Full Stack Web Development

Year-Round; Can be mostly remote with some on-site in summer

Front end and back end web and app design with SQL, HTML, CSS, javascript, Vue.js and ASP or equivalent coding experience. Maintain and improve existing code and websites and create new functionality for camper families, retreat guests, staff and internal administrative tasks

Facility & Operations Management

Year-round; On-site

Scheduling facility staff and coordinating housekeeping operations, event setup, maintenance items, and larger facility projects. Facility experience plus strong computer, organizational, and management skills.

Social Media Management

Year-Round; Can be mostly remote with some on-site in summer

Create content and manage Sandy Hill and Eagle Point’s social media presence and brand. Some time on-site for content creation.

Event Operations

Year-round or seasonal; On-site

Event setup/teardown, housekeeping, food service

Ropes Course Facilitating

April thru November; On-site

Facilitate for youth and adult retreat groups on Sandy Hill’s high and low element ropes course. Training available.

Building & Grounds Maintenance

Year-Round; On-site

Groundskeeping and/or strong trade skills in mechanical, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, plumbing, heavy equipment and/or boat repair.

Lifeguarding

May thru October; On-site

Lifeguard at the pool and manage paddlesports at the waterfront for youth and adult retreat groups at Sandy Hill. Training available. Must be able to swim 300m for pool lifeguard, 500m for waterfront lifeguard.

Food Services Management

Summer Only or March thru early December; On-site

Planning menus, ordering food and supplies, overseeing meal preparation and staff. Ensuring cleanliness, compliance and food safety including special dietary needs.

Cooking & Food Service

Summer Only or March thru early December; On-site

Prepare meals for campers and retreat guests including special dietary needs. Includes some weekends and evenings.

Assisting the Camp Directors

Year-Round or Summer Only; On-site

Senior leadership role to assist Greg & Kathy Ann with summer staff, campers, parents, camp program, logistics, and weather, medical and other issues that arise during camp.

Leading Camp Program & Entertainment

Year-round (varies by season); On-site

Be up-front as part of a team to provide quality program for campers, including entertainment, campfires, skits and more. Singing, guitar and up-front skills are highly desirable. Manage sound, video, and lighting equipment. May also oversee performing arts classes for campers. Prep and plan program remotely in the off-season.

Medical Administration

Mid-May thru mid-August; Full-time

Manage all of the preparatory paperwork before campers arrive to camp. Medical experience or degree required. Admin work can be mostly remote. On-site preferred during camp for check-in on Sundays.


Additional criteria for year-round staff:

  • Interested candidates must already be authorized to work in the United States.

  • For some roles, proximity to camp or an interest to live on-site at camp is desirable
